Mt. Maranat | Journey to Redemption

Maranat is the opposite of Mt. Balagbag which offers a cleaner trails, a wonderful views, a beautiful waterfalls, and a breathtaking experience in trekking the mountain. During rainy season, the way going to the mountain can be muddy or slippery, be careful.

Maranat is not a mountain but it is exactly the name of the waterfalls that is covered by Mt. Oriod.

Our Journey
Our trip and the expenses to Mt. Maranat is the same with Mt. Balagbag because they are just neighboring mountain which is located at Rodriguez, Rizal.

We took a night hike going similar to our first hike in Mt. Balagbag. We start our trip from Vito Cruz going to Fairview as usual. Then, from Fairview  to Tungkong Mangga and Tungkong Mangga going to Licao-Licao.

After a long trip we did already arrived at Licao-Licao.

From the trailhead, We stop at the Licao-Licao Barangay Hall to pay a registration fee of P10/person.

It was awesome and a risky hike because of the slippery trail and steep rocks going to the Mt. Maranat. Flashlight is badly needed if you happen to go on a night hike. Along the road, we stop by at nanay Julma store "we call it the 7/11 store" that provide basic need for mountaineers like foods and drinks. Nanay Julma specialty is the biko.

On the way, a several streams and small rivers can be pass by. Before reaching the campsite, there is a famous river that every hiker must cross which require the help of a rope. It is quite raging during rainy days, but it can be slow moving and peaceful during summer.

The famous river of Mt. Maranat

Upon crossing the river, we reach the campsite early in the morning. We were very late compared to our initial plan time due to the hours consumed in crossing the famous river.

What interest us in Mt. Maranat is the waterfalls that paints a scene so perfectly, can be found just below the campsite . After an hour of sleep and session, We headed to the waterfalls to swim and relax. Our Journey to Maranat is precious that every mountaineer would experiences.
